There comes a time in the lifespan of all our possessions when it’s time to decide whether it’s time to move on or not. Whether we’ve outgrown its usefulness, or it just doesn’t fit, it’s a perfect opportunity to donate it if it’s in good condition. If you’ve been debating whether it’s the right time to donate something, we listed out the three main reasons you should probably move on from an item and give back to your community.
You’ve Outgrown It
Has your child outgrown their bed frame, or do you need to get a bigger couch to support the increasing size of your family? Chances are it’s time to move on. As families grow and needs change, so do the furniture and appliances throughout the house. While your family can’t get any more use out of them, another family can. By donating your gently used furniture, appliances, clothing, and electronics, you give another family in your community the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate these luxuries.
You’re Out Of Space
Do you have an excess of unnecessary items, but simply no space? It’s probably time to take stock of everything and start narrowing down what you absolutely need and what you can live without. Donating items you no longer need or want that take up space can be a refreshing process and give you some much-needed breathing room in your home.
You’ve Replaced it
A good time to consider donating something is when you’ve gone through the process of actually replacing it. You may have just purchased a more advanced television or gaming system, even if the old one works perfectly fine. In this case, you’ve probably considered selling it or just throwing it away. Donating these luxuries that you’ve replaced is a great way to give members of your community an opportunity to enjoy them long after you or your family would.
Whatever the reason for moving on from something in your home, don’t make the mistake of just throwing it away. By donating your unwanted items, families throughout South Florida can finally receive the support they’ve needed. Through South Florida Donation Center, you’re able to directly donate to families across the tri-county area through our core charity partners: B’nai B’rith, Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Jewish Community Services, Jewishmiami.org, Miami Beach and Soref JCC, and the Miami Jewish Health Systems.
